Nate Skidmore joined the Niagara coaching staff prior to the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach.
The SUNY Potsdam graduate spent the 2021-22 season as an assistant coach at Williams College and helped lead them to a 11-11-1 record while having a 10-7-1 conference record.
"We are excited to welcome Nate to our uncommon family," Head Coach Jason Lammers said. "He has a tremendous drive to be on the road recruiting to find future Purple Eagles. He is an established coach who will help improve our goaltending while providing insights on how to score goals. He will add to recruiting and relationship building within the team."
"I am thankful to have the opportunity to join a great staff and program at Niagara University," said Skidmore. "I am excited to return to upstate NY and Division I hockey and am ready to start building relationships with the student-athletes, coaching staff, and the Purple Eagle community."
Prior to heading to Williams, Skidmore was a member of the coaching staff for the Odessa Jackalopes in the North American Hockey League. Mostly focusing on the defensive zone, he helped lead the Jackalopes to an 81.6 penalty kill percentage which was 11th in the NAHL.
He started his coaching career at RPI as a volunteer assistant coach following his graduation from Potsdam. While at Potsdam he played four seasons for the Bears. As a senior he was team MVP while also being an AHCA Academic All-American all four years. He was also the Maxcy Molnar Award winner in 2019.
