Dr. Ian Burt enters his eighth season as the volunteer assistant coach for the Purple Eagles hockey team in 2020-21, working primarily with the team's goaltenders.
A former goaltender at Cornell University, Burt played 41 games in four seasons for the Big Red from 1997 to 2001. In the 1999-2000 season, Burt posted career-bests in games played (15), wins (8), and save percentage (.913) to go with a 2.35 goals-against average. Burt went on to play cor the Coventry Blaze (EIHL) for one season after college.
A native of London, Ontario, Burt is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Niagara University. He is currently in charge of Niagara's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Burt received a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University before completing a Master's in Accounting from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Waterloo.
