BUFFALO, N.Y. — Niagara split results at the Little Three XC Championships on Saturday at Delaware Park, taking second in the women's race but finishing third among three teams in the men's race.
Women's 5K
Niagara was paced by Natalia Seremetis, who won the individual title in 18 minutes, 47.1 seconds. Sophomore Mercedez Covey backed her up with a runner-up finish in 19:17.9, giving the Purple Eagles the top two spots.
But St. Bonaventure's depth proved decisive. The Bonnies packed five runners inside a 13.7-second spread, the tightest of any team, for 27 points, edging Niagara's 41. Olivia Meier (ninth, 19:44.9), Annabelle Pacouloute (21st) and Lydia Fraas (22nd) rounded out Niagara's scoring five. Canisius took third with 64 points.
Men's 5K
In the men's race Niagara finished third out of three teams with 85 points. Caleb Lantz led the Purple Eagles, placing 17th in 16:15.4, followed by Ryan Capo in 23rd. Luc Diflavio, Rexton McKean and Franklin Payne completed Niagara's scoring lineup, which posted a team average of 17:13.8.
Canisius won the men's title, 26-33, over St. Bonaventure behind Fenway Breckels' third-place individual finish (15:29.3). St. Bonaventure's Aiden Scattergood took the individual men's title in 15:07.0.
St. Bonaventure completed a runner-up sweep, taking second in both races, while Canisius claimed the men's team crown and third in the women's standings.
