Niagara University, N.Y. - Softball took down Manhattan 4-3 as they took the three-game weekend series 2-1 at Niagara Field in Niagara University, N.Y.
Niagara got on the board first as they recorded three runs as Donnalea Barnett along with
Ella Moore scored off the bat of senior
Sophia Marrero. Marrero would then come around to score off of fellow classmate
Jolyn Gibbons, who doubled to right field to take a 3-0 advantage over Manhattan.
Senior Hailey Cenname flied out to center field in a sacrifice effort to score Barnett to put the Purple and White up 4-0 in the fifth inning.
The Jaspers would get their first runs of the game in the seventh inning as Samantha Kelly tripled to score Brianna Estevez. Natalye DeBus then doubled to score Kelly, Lainey Brown drove the final run home for Manhattan as Madison Douglass scored as Niagara came away victorious 4-3.
Jenna Martin pitched all seven innings as she faced 32 batters as she struck out four in the winning effort.
