Smyrna, Tenn. - Niagara Women's Bowling went 3-2 through five baker matches. The Purple Eagles were led by
Kate Ackerman who posted a 20.9 baker average, followed by
Emily Brock who finished the day with a 20.7 average.
Niagara finished day one with a 3-2 record and 9th in overall team pinfall.
Baker Match 1: Niagara 995, Carthage 948
Niagara won the first baker match of the day by 47-pins. They used a strong second game scoring a 243 to carry them past Carthage College.
Baker Match 2: Niagara 1065, Western Illinois 842
Niagara cruised past Western Illinois to collect their second win of the day. They scored 200 in three games to win by a dominating 223-pins. Game two included a match high score of 267 to lift the Purple and White past the Leathernecks.
Baker Match 3: Niagara 961, Newman 1059
The Purple Eagles dropped their first game of day one by 98-pins to Newman University. Despite three strong games of 224, 209, and 206 Niagara was unable to collect their third win of the day.
Baker Match 4: Niagara 952, Tulane 971
Niagara drops their second match of the day to nationally ranked Tulane by a slim margin of only 19-pins. The Purple Eagles had two strong games of 246 and 237 but were unable to get back into the win column versus the Green Wave.
Baker Match 5: Niagara 985, Youngstown State 922
The Purple and White cap off day one of the Music City Classic with a win versus Youngstown State. Niagara finishes day one with a record of 3-2 following a slim 63-pin victory.
