Lawrenceville, NJ – Niagara dropped a pair of games to Rider with the final score in game one being 10-4 followed by a 16-1 five inning loss at Heb and Joan Young Field in Lawrenceville, NJ.
Game One
Niagara kicked off the scoring in game one in the bottom of the second as
Sophia Marrero drove home
Donnalea Barnett for her 11th RBI on the season.
Hailey Cenname in the bottom of the second reached on a fielding error from the Broncs shortstop that allowed Sophia Chemoti to score to put the Purple Eagles up 2-0.
In the top of the third Rider recorded six runs. Maddie Luedtke hit a two-run shot to left field to tie the game at two. Kiersten Buchanan hit a single to center that allowed two Broncs baserunners to score to take the lead 4-2. Aspen Wheeler caped off the scoring in the top of the third for the Broncs with a single to center field that would drive two more runs to the board to take the lead 6-2.
Luedtke in the top of the fourth would hit a homer to right field to extend the Rider led to 7-2.
Buchanan doubled but got called out at third which allowed three runs to score to bring the contest to 10-2.
Ella Sheehan in the bottom of the sixth hit a homerun to left field to drive
Adriana Hills home to bring the game to 10-4 in favor of Rider.
Abbey Steen pitched the first three innings as she faced 21 batters striking out two.
Jenna Martin came in for relief to pitch the final four innings as she saw 18 batters as she punched out one.
Game Two
Abby Cruz kicked off the scoring in game two as she homered to right field with the bases loaded to take a 4-0 advantage in game two.
Keegan St. Cyr drove Wheeler home for the Broncs first run of six in the second inning. Cruz would record her fifth RBI in game two after a sac fly to allow St. Cyr to score to put the game at 6-0.
Rider would record four singles to cap off the top of the second where the Broncs would score on all four hits with three of the runs being unearned to take a 10-0 lead to go into the third.
Jolyn Gibbons would get credit for the Purple Eagles RBI of the game as she flied out to right to bring home
Carmella Phelan.
Rider got back to their scoring ways in the fourth as they added four more runs with a single from Shelby Dyer to allow Gabi Rodriguez to score. Wheeler would then get onto first after a Niagara fielding error to allow Buchanan to score.
Fallyn Stoeckel flied out to left to allow Dyer to score an unearned run. Luedtke would round out the scoring in the fourth as she hit a two-run shot to left to drive in two more runs for a 15-1 lead.
Wheeler rounded out the scoring in the fifth for her third RBI of the game to bring Dyer home to round out the game 16-1.

Abbey Steen came in and pitched 1.2 innings as she faced 16 batters,
Jenna Martin pitched the final 3.1 innings as she saw 19 batters as she punched out one.
