Niagara University, N.Y. — Talia Dial provided a bright spot with 16 points, but Niagara fell to Quinnipiac 89-45 on Saturday afternoon at Gallagher Center in Niagara University N.Y.
Dial knocked down four 3-pointers and led the Purple Eagles in scoring, while
Kenedie Haruna added 11 points off the bench.
Jade Campbell contributed eight points and seven rebounds in the loss.
The Purple Eagles battled early, cutting Quinnipiac's lead to 6-4 midway through the first quarter on back-to-back baskets by Campbell. Niagara trailed just 8-5 after a Wilson free throw with 2:21 remaining in the opening period.
However, Quinnipiac responded with a decisive 10-1 run to close the first quarter, taking an 18-6 lead into the second period. The Bobcats extended their advantage to 39-22 by halftime.
Niagara in the fourth quarter, Dial scored 11 points in the final period, including three 3-pointers.
