Erie, P.A. - Niagara women's bowling opened the 2026-27 season at the Mercyhurst Invitational as they went 4-1 in five traditional matches.
Game 1: Niagara 962, Duquesne 902
Niagara kicked off the 2026-27 season in a 60-point win as each of the five Niagara bowlers recorded a 170 or higher.
Abbie Derby and
Kate Ackerman led the Purple and White with a 210 and 203, respectively.
Game 2: Niagara 859, D'Youville 821
The Purple Eagles recorded their second win of the day as they defeated D'Youville, led by Jocelyn Smith, who scored a 244 to lead all Niagara bowlers in game two.
Game 3: Niagara 1027, Daemen 787
The Purple and White recorded their highest pinfall of the day with a 1027 as they defeated Daemen by 240 pins. Derby and Ackerman both bowled over 200, as Derby recorded a 242 while Ackerman bowled a 231.
Game 4: Niagara 937, Mercyhurst 1003
Niagara dropped their first match of the day as they lost to Mercyhurst by 66 pins. Ackerman led all Purple Eagles as she bowled a 232, followed by Smith's 210.
Game 5: Niagara 924, William Smith 840
To round out day one of the Mercyhurst Invitational, Niagara defeated William Smith by 84 pins, with Ackerman and Derby both recorded a 199.
