NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — Despite falling to Iona 77-49 on Thursday the Niagara Purple Eagles demonstrated resilience with a strong fourth quarter at the Gallagher Center in Niagara University, NY
Talia Dial led Niagara with 14 points on 5-of-15 shooting, including an impressive 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. The junior guard provided consistent offensive production throughout the game and showcased her long-range shooting ability.
Caliana Fenceroy contributed nine points off the bench, while
Kenedie Haruna provided a spark with six points on perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the free-throw line in limited minutes.
The Purple Eagles found their rhythm in the fourth quarter, with a 22-point output after struggling through the second and third periods. Niagara shot 42.86 percent from the field in the final frame and converted all nine free-throw attempts, demonstrating improved execution down the stretch.
Jade Rutledge added seven points and grabbed three rebounds, while
Katarina Veljovic hauled down a team-high seven boards to go along with six points. The Purple Eagles outscored Iona 19-12 from the free-throw line, shooting 73.1 percent from the stripe.
Niagara forced nine steals and blocked five shots while competing hard on the defensive end. The team showed determination throughout, particularly in transition where they scored 11 fast-break points.
