Women’s Basketball Shows Fight Despite Loss at Siena

Loudonville, N.Y. - Kenedie Haruna provided a spark off the bench with 15 points, but Niagara fell to Siena 84-64 Thursday night at UHY Center in Loudonville, N.Y.
 
Haruna shot 5-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, leading a second half. Talia Dial added 11 points on 5-of-19 shooting, while Chasity Wilson contributed 10 points and four rebounds.
 
The Purple Eagles faced a challenging first half, trailing 41-24 at the break. Siena built an early double-digit lead with an 11-2 run to open the game.
 
However, Niagara showed character in the third quarter, outscoring the Saints 20-19 and cutting into the deficit. The Purple Eagles' bench provided 30 points, with Jisca Bila chipping in seven points and Jade Campbell adding six.
 
A key moment came late in the third quarter when Niagara mounted a brief rally. Bila converted a fastbreak layup, followed by a Dial three-pointer assisted by Bila, trimming Siena's lead to 55-35. Haruna then buried back-to-back three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
 
The Purple and White outscored Siena in the paint 40-34 in that area and forced seven Siena turnovers in the second half. Tyasia Freeman was effective inside with seven points and five rebounds, while Jade Rutledge contributed six points and grabbed four boards.
