Niagara surrenders two first half goals with an attempted comeback fell short 2-0 against Fairfield at Lessing Field in Fairfield, C.T.
Fairfield kicked off the scoring in the 40th minute of action, the Stags added a two-goal lead in the final minute in the first half.
The Purple Eagles did not go away in the contest recording 13 shots with nine going on goal. Niagara recorded nine shots in the second half alone, forcing the Fairfield keeper to earn his clean sheet.
Notes From Coach Boyle
"The boys fought hard today and left everything on the field. Unfortunately, some mistakes late in the first half forced us to chase the game. Credit to Fairfield's goalkeeper—he came up big, and they handled our second-half pressure well.
We couldn't find our way back into it, but this is part of the learning process. League games leave no room for error, home or away, no matter the opponent. We'll take this experience, grow from it, and become more efficient offensively while sharpening our defense for the full 90 minutes.
I'm proud of how far we've come already, and I'm excited about where we're going. This group has the talent to achieve what we want this season."
