NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. —
Jordyn Williams' layup with two seconds remaining lifted Niagara to a 67-65 victory over Rider in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Gallagher Center.
How it Happened
The game-winning basket capped a back-and-forth contest that featured 12 lead changes and 15 ties. Williams finished with six points and three steals for the Purple Eagles (3-25, 2-18 MAAC).
Safiatu Kolliegbo led Niagara with 20 points and three assists, while
Marlie Dickerson added 13 points off the bench.
Lore Porter contributed 11 points, including a crucial 3-pointer with four seconds left in the third quarter that gave the Purple Eagles a 55-53 lead heading into the final period.
Niagara trailed by as many as six points in the first half but rallied to take a 30-33 deficit into halftime. The Purple Eagles shot an efficient 75.0 percent from three-point range in the third quarter to gain momentum.
Winner Bartholomew paced Rider (7-22, 5-15) with 16 points, while Gabby Turco added 12 points and five assists. The Broncs shot 42.0 percent from the field but struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 1-of-10 three-point attempts.
