Purple Eagles Split with George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Niagara softball team split a doubleheader at George Mason on Sunday, winning the opener 3-1 before falling 12-4 in the nightcap.
 
Game 1: Niagara 3, George Mason 1
In game one, the Purple Eagles (2-1) broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the seventh inning to secure the victory. Natasha Limbani delivered a go-ahead RBI single to score Bayleigh McCullough, followed by Lindsay Mayo's RBI double that brought home CJ Haney for an insurance run.
 
Sage Jackson (2-1) earned the complete-game win for Niagara, limiting George Mason to four hits and one run while striking out five over seven innings. The Patriots' lone run came in the third inning on Sobota's RBI single.
 
Game 2: George Mason 12, Niagara 4
The second game saw George Mason (4-8) jump out to an early lead and pull away for a 12-4 victory in five innings. The Patriots scored four runs in the first inning and broke the game open with a seven-run second, highlighted by Stinnett's two-run homer.
 
Limbani led Niagara's offense in the nightcap, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs scored. Mayo added two doubles as the Purple Eagles managed seven hits but couldn't overcome an early deficit.
 
Aubrey Tamayo (0-1) took the loss for Niagara, allowing 11 runs (six earned) in two innings. Lane earned the win in relief for George Mason, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings.

• Niagara recorded 14 hits, five doubles and six walks over two games.
• Five different Purple Eagles recorded at least one RBI in the twin bill.
• Limbani combined to go 4-for-8 (.500) with two doubles, 2 RBIs, and three runs scored across both games.
• Jackson threw here first career complete game in game one. The senior allowed four-hits, striking out five while walking three for her second win of the season.
