Niagara University, N.Y.- The Niagara women's bowling team won three out-of five of their traditional matches Saturday afternoon during day one of the Niagara Brunswick Fall Open. The Purple Eagles currently sit in first place.

Emily Brock and Jocelyn Smith were named to the All-Tournament team after leading the Purple and White with an average of 219 and 204 respectively. 

Game 1: Niagara 976, Mount St. Mary's 991

The Purple Eagles dropped their first match of the day by a narrow margin of 15 pins. Niagara was led by Jocelyn Smith who bowled her career high 289 one frame away from a perfect game.

Game 2: Niagara 967, Daemen 767

Niagara bounced back in the second match of the day defeating Daemen by an even 200 pins. Kate Ackerman and Jocelyn Smith led the way with scores of 238 and 195 respectively.

Game 3: Niagara 897, William Smith 937

Niagara dropped game three by a 40 pin difference, despite strong performances from Kate Ackerman and Emily Brock who bowled 221 and 211 respectively.

Game 4: Niagara 1036, Mercyhurst 988

Emily Brock marked the second Purple Eagle of the day to bowl a 289, another game that was just one frame away from a perfect game. That performance marked Niagara's second win of the day as Niagara drew closer to first place Mount St. Mary's.

Game 5: Niagara 1065, D'Youville 745

The Purple Eagles bowled tournament high of 1065 which was good enough for Niagara to catch Mount St. Mary's in positioning giving them first place for day one. They took an early lead and never looked back, winning by a commanding 320 pins.
