Bowling Finishes 8th in the Penguin Classic

Niagara University, N.Y. Niagara women's bowling finished 8th overall at the Youngstown State Penguin Classic after posting a 1-2 record in three best-of-seven baker matches on the final day of competition.
 
Emily Brock led Niagara with a baker frame average of 21.2, followed by Kate Ackerman and Abbie Derby at 21.0 and 19.7, respectively.
 
Baker Match 1 (Best of 7): Niagara 4, Mount St. Mary's 3 (180-202, 249-201, 186-180, 192-193, 189-158, 224-235, 216-167): 
 
Niagara won four of seven games to start the day off with a win, taking games two, three, five and seven to top Mount St. Mary' by a total of 100 pins. The Purple Eagles took the decisive game seven, 216-167, to earn the win.
 
Baker Match 2 (Best of 7): Niagara 0, Sacred Heart 4 (212-276, 159-204, 188-212, 149-203)
 
The Purple Eagles fell to Sacred Heart in its second match by a total of 197 pins. The Pioneers swept NU in four games.
 
Baker Match 3 (Best of 7): Niagara 3, Wright State 4 (191-158, 190-202, 160-178, 140-170, 195-146, 189-161, 202-207)
 
Although Niagara led in total pinfall through the seven game series, they were unable to collect a win in the final match of the Penguin Classic. The Purple Eagles had several strong performances in the final match, unfortunately falling a mere 5 pins short in game seven of match three versus the Raiders.
