Men’s Soccer Drops Afternoon Contest Against Siena

Niagara University, N.Y. – Two unanswered goals from Siena kept Niagara out of the win column at Hickey Field at Loudonville, N.Y.

Siena kicked off the scoring in the 22nd minute of play to take a 1-0 lead.

Reon Tezuka answered back just two minutes later in the 24th minute. Jermie Truel picked up an assist on Tezuka's strike. Truel stripped the Saints defender of the ball and slipped it behind him to Tezuka who put in away in the right side of the cage.

The Saints regained their one goal lead in the 40th minute of play taking a one goal lead heading into the break.

Niagara would not hold back as the Purple Eagles attempted eight shots in the second half with five of them finding their way to the Siena keeper.

In the dying minutes of the match the Saints capped off the game in the 87th minute to give the Purple Eagles a 3-1 loss.

Coach Boyle on today's performance:
"Proud of our group tonight. The boys gave everything they had against a very good Siena team. We felt we could have, and deserved, a point from the match — but a couple of mistakes in the first half made it tough to draw even.

That said, I'm proud of the way our guys showed, once again, that they can play with the best in our league. We are one of the best in our league, and we're looking forward to finishing strong in these next three games as we push toward the playoffs."
