Purple Eagles' Offense Stalls in Loss

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — Despite outshooting their opponents 34-20, the Niagara Purple Eagles fell 3-1 to Alaska Anchorage on Thursday night at Dwyer Arena, snapping their recent momentum heading into conference play.

How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (11-9-3) controlled much of the offensive play but struggled to solve Seawolves goaltender Tyler Krivtsov, who made 33 saves in a stellar performance. The loss marked just Niagara's third defeat in their last ten games.

Glebs Prohorenkovs scored Niagara's lone goal early in the second period, his sixth of the season, with assists from Trevor Hoskin and Jay Ahearn. The goal briefly cut Alaska Anchorage's lead to 2-1, but the Seawolves (5-17-3) responded less than three minutes later to restore their two-goal advantage.

Mitchell Day made 17 saves for Niagara in the loss. The Purple Eagles' power play went 0-for-2 while successfully killing off both of Alaska Anchorage's opportunities with the man advantage.
