SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A late goal by
Thomas Brooks helped Niagara (2-5-1, 0-0-0 MAAC) escape the Salt City with a 1-1 draw with Le Moyne (3-1-3, 0-0-0 NEC) in non-conference men's soccer action.
How it Happened
The game would remain scoreless for over 50 minutes before Le Moyne opened the scoring with a goal from Jackson Card. Prior to the goal,
Jamie Barry had made six saves, but a trio of attempts from the Dolphins had the junior goalie off balance, resulting in the opening marker.
Niagara would have four shots on goal in the first 80-minutes of play including a shot from
Felix Kogler in the 79th minute in an attempt to tie the score. However, it wouldn't be until the final five minutes of action when the Purple Eagles finally got one by the Dolphin keeper as a blocked cross found an unmarked Brooks on the edge of the 18 to level the contest.
Comments from Head Coach Bill Boyle
"The Team had some solid moments but we need to work on maintaining that consistency throughout the game while emphasizing compactness and quick simple play, that will help us reduce the turnovers and counterattacks that continue to haunt us. It's good for us to identify these areas and focus on them heading into MAAC play."
