West Windsor, N.J.—The Niagara women's tennis team fell to No. 2 Quinnipiac in the MAAC Semifinals on Saturday. The Bobcats secured a 4-0 win as the Purple Eagles season came to an end.
Doubles
Second doubles was the first match to finish on the day. Coral Rodriguez and Gabriela Melo fell 6-2 in their match. The duo finishes the season with a 7-9 record as a doubles team.
In first doubles, Elena Mayet and Larisa Kotok fell 6-2 in their match. Mayet and Kotok finish with a 4-6 record together is doubles.
Singles
Mercedes Velasco was slotted in fifth singles. She fell 6-2, 6-2 in the first singles match of the day. She finishes the season with six wins this season and a 3-2 conference record.
Fourth singles was the second match to finish as Jaida Borg played fourth singles for the Purple Eagles. She fell 6-1, 6-2. She finishes the season with an 8-10 record and 4-1 MAAC record while also being named to the All-MAAC team.
Second singles was the final match to finish. Rodriguez was slotted in second singles for the Purple Eagles. She fell 6-2 in the first set before falling 6-3 in the second set.
The Purple Eagles finish the season with an 8-12 record overall and a 4-2 MAAC record as they earned the third seed in the MAAC Championship. Niagara's winning percentage in 2023-24 is the best winning percentage for a season since the 2015-16 season.
