DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – Niagara men's golf closed out the Daytona Beach Invite with its best round as a team Tuesday at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Purple Eagles recorded a 321 in round three to finish the event with a 989 (+125) in 14th place.
Freshman
Carlos Hernandez finished round three with an 80 (+8) to complete the 54-hole event with a score of 236 (+20), tying for 62nd overall on the individual leaderboard.
Fellow first-year Purple Eagle
Ben Hebert recorded his best round of the invitational with a 75 (+3) in round three. He finished tied for 78th overall with a three-round score of 245 (+29).
Team captain
Ben Fey finished in 82nd place with a score of 251 (+35) after shooting an 81 (+9) in round three.
Owen Gauder recorded and 85 in round three to finish with a score of 257 (+41), while
Ian Wagner posted a 96 in round three to round out the Purple Eagle scorecard with a 54-hole score of 283 (+57).
Niagara Notes
• Hernandez's 74 in round one was the lowest 18-hole score by a Purple Eagle at the Daytona Beach Invite. The freshman parred 32-of-54 holes.
• Hebert finished with a team-high six birdies.
• As a team, Niagara posted a stroke average of 3.77 on par-3's, 4.64 on par-4's, and 5.83 on par-5's.
