DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – Niagara men's golf opened the season on Monday, March 4 with the first two of three rounds of the Daytona Beach Invitational at LPGA International. The Purple Eagles sit in 14th place as a team, out of 14 teams with a score of 668 (+92).
Freshman
Carlos Hernandez sits tied for 49th overall on the individual leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 156 (+12). The freshman shot a 74 (2) in round one, followed by and 82 (+10).
Ben Fey and
Ben Hebert are tied for 83rd as both Purple Eagles are +26 through 36-holes. Fey recorded an 82 (+10) and 88 (+16) in rounds one and two, respectively. Hebert shot an 87 (+15) in round one before taking off five strokes in round two with an 83 (+11).
Owen Gauder is in 86th with a two-round score of 172 (+28) and
Ian Wagner sits in 88th with a score of 187 (+43).
Niagara Notes
• Hebert and Hernandez led Niagara with three birdies on the day, while Hernandez recorded par on a team-high 22 holes.
• As a team, Niagara posted a stroke average of 3.93 on par-3's, 4.62 on par-4's, and 5.90 on par-5's.
