NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The visiting Marist and Red Foxes (23-9, 5-1 MAAC) took the final game of the series with Niagara (10-13, 3-3 MAAC) by the final score of 6-1.
How it Happened
Marist would get to Niagara starter
Maddie Hickingbottom in the top of the third when Maddie Pleasants hit a three-run home run to break the scoreless tie and give the Red Foxes a quick 3-0 lead.
Niagara would get a run back in the bottom half of the third as freshman
Brianna Delaney homered down the left field line to put the Purple Eagles on the board.
The Red Foxes would again strike for three in the top of the fourth using a pair of two out hits to make it a five-run advantage.
Kiley Myers would shut down the Purple Eagle bats for the remaining four innings allowing three baserunners, none of which made it into scoring position.
In the bottom of the seventh, Myers got around a leadoff walk by striking out the final three batters of the contest to secure the series win for Marist.
