BALTIMORE, Md. – The Colgate Raiders topped the Niagara Purple Eagles Sunday afternoon by the final score of 6-3 in non-conference action.
Freshman
Natasha Limbani went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and junior
Lindsay Mayo drove in two runs, finishing 1-for-3 at the plate.
Maddie Hickingbottom got the start in the circle for the Purple and With, going 4.1 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out two.
How it Happened
The Purple Ealges took an early three run lead in the second inning with two of the runs coming via a double from Mayo, who came around to score on a
Maggie Kellner single.
Niagara will remain ahead going into the fourth when Colgate scored its first two runs of the game on three hits, but Hickingbottom would escape the inning with the NU lead intact.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Raiders would take their first lead of the game, 5-3, on a 3-run home run, knocking Hickingbottom out of the contest.
Colgate would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and set Niagara down in order in the seventh to secure the win over the Purple and White.
Niagara Notes
• Mayo has recorded a hit in eight of the last nine games with the double giving her a team-high four on the season.
• Sunday marked the first multi-RBI game of the season for Mayo.
• Kellner picked up her fourth RBI of the season and first since Wednesday, March 13 at Saint Peter's.
• With one hit on Sunday,
Madison LaPenta is four for her last seven at the plate.
