BEAUMONT, TX – Lamar (8-6) took both games of Sunday's doubleheader with Niagara (1-5) with a 3-2 win in game one and an 11-0 win in five innings to complete the sweep of the Purple and White.
Game 1 Recap: Niagara 2, Lamar 3
Niagara and Lamar would be in a pitcher's duel through four and a half frames before the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead over Niagara in the bottom half of the fifth inning on a two-out RBI single.
In the top half of the sixth, Niagara would push across the game-tying and go-ahead runs all with two outs.
Selah Moyer reached via a single to center and later came across to score on a
Hailey Cenname double. Cenname would then come around to give Niagara a 2-1 lead when
Brianna Delaney singled to left.
The Niagara lead wouldn't last long as a two-out triple in the bottom of the sixth scored two and gave Lamar a 3-2 lead.
The Purple Eagles would then go down in order to end the contest.
Maddie Hickingbottom went 6.0 innings in the circle for Niagara, striking out four batters while allowing three runs on six hits.
A trio of Purple Eagles recorded multi-hit games, with Cenname going 2-for-2 at the plate and Moyer and Delaney going 2-for-3.

Lamar scored six runs in the first two innings off Niagara starter
Cara Leone, forcing the Purple and White to make an early change in the circle as
Sage Jackson entered the contest to start the third.
Jackson would cool down the Cardinals bats, allowing just one hit in the third, but Lamar started the fourth with two hits and a walk, forcing the junior out of the contest for Niagara.
Julia Thompson would relieve Jackson with the bases loaded and get the next batter to ground out, trading an out for a run in the process. Lamar would go on to add three more runs in the inning, taking a 11-0 lead over the Purple and White.
Lamar would shut down the Purple and White bats in the top half of the fifth to earn the five-inning win.
Maggie Kellner and Cenname were the lone Purple Eagles to record a hit while Moyer reached base via a walk.
Niagara Notes
• Niagara drops to 0-3 all-time against Lamar.
• The Purple Eagles recorded a season-high 28 at-bats in the first game of the doubleheader.
• Moyer recorded her second multi-hit game of the season. The freshman also recorded a season-high eight putouts in game two.
• Moyer has reached safely in the first five games of her career.
• Hickingbottom has made three starts this season, striking out at least three batters in each.
• Cenname is on a three-game hit streak after recording one hit in game one and two in game two.
