Wallace Named AHA Rookie of the Week

Boston, Mass.—Niagara freshman forward Tyler Wallace was named the Rookie of the Week by the Atlantic Hockey Association on Monday.

Wallace totaled three points this weekend for the Purple Eagles with all three points coming in Niagara's 6-3 win over Army on Friday night at Dwyer Arena. He opened the scoring in the first period for the Purple Eagles as he took a pass in front of the net from Carter Randklev and went to his backhand for his ninth goal of the year. He added an assist on the second Niagara goal as he dropped the puck in the high slot for Josef Mysak who fired home the second Niagara goal of the night. He notched his second assist and third point of the period on the third Niagara goal. With the faceoff deep in the Army zone he won a faceoff that ended with Randklev scoring the third Niagara goal of the period. He finished the weekend with 25 faceoff wins and a +2 rating.

The Calgary, AB native is tied for the team lead in points this season while having nine goals and 13 assists. He is also second on the team with 286 faceoff wins along with a 52.1 winning percentage in the faceoff circle. He is 40th in the country in faceoff wins and fifth among Division I freshman.

This is the second straight week that Wallace has been named Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week.
