Army Edges Niagara in 1-0 Battle

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Despite outshooting Army 39-30, Niagara's offense couldn't find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss to the Black Knights on Friday night at West Point.

How it Happened
Army's Adam Marshall scored the game's lone goal at 10:50 of the first period, assisted by Dylan Wegner and Barron Woodring. The goal came just moments after Niagara (4-4-2, 3-2-1) had killed off their first penalty of the game.

The Purple Eagles had several opportunities to even the score, particularly in the third period where they fired 15 shots on Army goaltender JJ Cataldo. Niagara pulled goalie Pierce Charleson for an extra attacker with under three minutes remaining but couldn't convert.

Charleson finished with 29 saves in the losing effort, while Cataldo earned the shutout with 39 saves for Army (3-5-0, 3-4-0).

Niagara's special teams struggled, going 0-for-2 on the power play while taking six penalties. Jay Ahearn led the Purple Eagles' attack with five shots on goal, while Andy Reist and Johnny Wescoe each contributed four shots.

The loss snapped Niagara's strong start in conference play, where they had earned points in four of their previous five games.
