BUFFALO, N.Y. — Despite striking first, Niagara women's soccer fell 5-1 to Battle of the Bridge rival Canisius on Wednesday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex to conclude the 2024 season.
How it Happened
Morgan Kulniszewski gave the Purple Eagles (5-8-4, 1-7-4) an early lead in the 9th minute off an assist from
Isabella Mazzaferro, but the Golden Griffins responded with three first-half goals to take control of the match.
Niagara's defense, anchored by goalkeeper
Maddie Crosbie who recorded 11 saves, faced relentless pressure throughout the contest. The Golden Griffins outshot the Purple Eagles 27-7, including 16 shots on goal to Niagara's three.
The Purple Eagles struggled to generate offensive opportunities in the second half, managing just two shots as Canisius added two more goals to secure the victory.
