Niagara Defeated by St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. –  The St. Bonaventure Bonnies used a two goal second half to defeat Niagara (0-5-1) 3-1 in Wednesday night's Little Three non-conference matchup. Felix Kogler was the goal scorer for the Purple Eagles, recording his second tally of the season.

How it Happened
The Bonnies opened the scoring in the ninth minute when a shot from the middle of the 18-yard box froze Jamie Barry and snuck inside the far post.

Kogler would attempt to tie the contest in the 16th minute but his shot was met by the Bona keeper, leading to an NU corner that pressured the keeper, but not enough to get Niagara on the board.

Moments later a foul would give Niagara a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box. Kogler would set up over the ball and send a laser around the Bona wall and past the keeper for the equalizer. The junior would nearly notch his second goal of the contest on another free kick from 25 yards out in the 23rd minute, but his shot attempt was just over the crossbar.

Asher Barnes looked to knock in his second tally of the season and give NU its first lead of the night in the 28th minute but came up empty.  Purple Eagle captain, Cam Roach would take his first shot of the match with less than 15 minutes to go in the first half, but his right footed attempt went wide right.

With both teams vying for possession in the second half, the Bonnies would be the first to put a shot on goal, of which Barry made the save, his fourth of the contest. However, moments later, the Bonnies would beat a diving Barry for their second goal of the contest, taking a 2-1 lead over Niagara in the 56th minute.

A corner for the Purple and White in the 58th minute went off the head of Barnes and just missed, keeping Bona in front by one.

In the 63rd minute, St. Bonaventure would have a shot go off the hands of a diving Barry and sneak inside the far post, giving Bona a 3-1 lead.

Niagara would fail to record a shot since the 58th minute effort from Barnes, leading to the 3-1 win for Bona.
