MECHANICSBURG, PA. – After a two-week hiatus, the Niagara bowling team was back in action this weekend, competing in four baker matches on the first day of the second NEC meet of the season, earning a win over Wagner, before falling to FDU, LIU, and Saint Francis (Pa.).
Three Purple Eagles posted baker frame averages over 17.0, including a team-high 17.9 from
Emily Brock, followed by a 17.5 from Strickland, and 17.0 from
Brianna Thurston.
Baker Match 1: Niagara 868, Wagner 769
The Purple Eagles won their first baker match of the day, defeating Wagner by 99 total pins, 868-769. Niagara jumped out to an early lead in game one and never looked back, taking all five games to earn the victory.
Baker Match 2: Niagara 830, FDU 892
Niagara found themselves in a 65-pin hole following the first two games of the match, before cutting into the FDU lead with a 186-165 win in game three and 176-164 win in game three. FDU would take the final game 224-184 to defeat the Purple Eagles.
Baker Match 3: Niagara 867, LIU 893
LIU would defeat Niagara by a 26-pin margin in Niagara's third baker match of the day. Niagara took the first and second games of the match before LIU took the game three and four to take a 713-663. Despite the Purple Eagles taking the final game 204-179, LIU came out on top by 26 pins.
Baker Match 4: Niagara 890, Saint Francis (Pa.) 940
The Red Flash would defeat Niagara by 50 pins in the Purple and White's final baker match of the day. Niagara took the first and second games of the match to build a 371-320 lead over SFU, however the Red Flash would take each of the last three games by 20-plus pins to earn the win over NU.
