BUFFALO, NY – The Niagara bowling team hosted its first-ever event, a dual against local rival D'Youville, Saturday afternoon at Classic Lanes. The Purple Eagles and Saints competed in one traditional match and two baker matches.
NU took the traditional match 939-843, with
Taylor Strickland leading the way with a game-high 222.
Paige Herndon recorded a 194, followed by
Mackenzie Smith with a 191.
In the first baker match of the afternoon, Niagara took the first game 175-135, but fell in the second game 161-136, holding on to a 15-pin advantage after two games. NU's lead would grow to 129-pins after a dominating game three where the Purple Eagles won by 114 pins, 211-97. Niagara would seal the win with 181-95 and 175-154 results in games four and five.
The Purple Eagles defeated D'Youville in the second baker match after winning the first four games by a combined score of 699-587, a 112-pin advantage that was highlighted by a 41-pin win in game two of the match. The Saints would take the final game of the baker match but the Niagara lead was too much to overcome.
Freshman
Kaelynn Weber led NU with a baker frame average of 20.1, followed by Strickland with an 18.4, and
Dana Murata with an average of 17.0.
