YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – Niagara went 3-2 in its five baker matches on day one of the Youngstown State Penguin Classic, earning wins over Saint Francis (Pa.), Bryant, and Morgan State.

Kaelynn Weber led NU with a baker frame average of 21.42, followed by sophomore
Emily Brock with a average of 18.11. As a team, Niagara is in seventh place, averaging a 186.4 with a total score of 4,659.
Baker Match 1: Niagara 930, Saint Francis 880
The Purple and White picked up a 930-880 win over SFU to start their day. After three matches Niagara trailed SFU by 18 pins, but the Purple Eagles would outscore the Red Flash 194-171 and 195-142 in the final two matches to take home the win by a 50-pin margin.
Baker Match 2: Niagara 867, Wright State 926
The Purple Eagles dropped their first baker match of the day to Wright State by a total of 59 pins. NU won the first match, but fell in games two and three, before tying 187-187 in the second to last match. Niagara won the final game, but the Wright State margin was too much to overcome.
Baker Match 3: Niagara 893, Mercyhurst 1042
After defeating Mercyhurst last weekend, NU dropped its baker match with the Lakers Friday afternoon 893-1042.
Baker Match 4: Niagara 904, Bryant 809
Niagara bounced back with its second win of the day, defeating Bryant 904-809. The 105-pin win for Niagara came from wins in three of the four games, winning by an average pinfall of 39.3.
Baker Match 5: Niagara 1057, Morgan State 910
The Purple Eagles picked up a heafty 167-pin margin of victory over Morgan Sate to cap off Friday's baker matches. After Morgan State took the first two games of the match, the Purple Eagles took control in the final three games to earn its largest baker match win of the season.
