Women's Soccer Announces 2022 Slate

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – Highlighted by seven home matches, NU women's soccer has its competition schedule set for the 2022 season, as announced by head coach Peter Veltri on Thursday. 

Niagara will open the season against a pair of WNY rivals as it travels to Buffalo on Aug. 21 before opening the home portion of its schedule on Aug. 25 versus St. Bonaventure. 

The Purple Eagles will also travel to Navy (Aug. 28), Cleveland State (Sept. 4), Akron (Sept. 8), and Saint Francis (Sept. 11) and host Cornell (Sept. 1) during non-league action. 

In conference play, the Purple and White will host Manhattan (Sept. 24), Canisius (Sept. 28), Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 8), Siena (Oct. 12), and Iona (Oct. 19) and travel to Quinnipiac (Sept. 17), Saint Peter's (Oct. 1), Rider (Oct. 15), Fairfield (Oct. 22), and Marist (Oct. 26). 

The six-team MAAC Championship Tournament will begin on Oct. 30 with the quarterfinal round, followed by the semifinal and finals on Nov. 3 and Nov. 6, respectively. 

Niagara is coming off a 13-4-1 season in 2021, highlighted by an eight-match win streak. The Purple Eagles return six All-MAAC selections from a year ago, including first-team selection Ida Miceli, second-team selections Djeynaba Thiam, Emma Davies, and Alexis Horwedel, as well as rookie team honoree Maia MacLean and Raelyn Stranc

The Purple and White welcome 12 newcomers to the roster for 2022, including transfers Claudia Cuicani, Emily Hahnel, Emma Ramsay, and Lauren DiPietro
