Women's Basketball Falls to St. Bonaventure on the Road

St. Bonaventure, N.Y.—The Niagara Women's Basketball team returned to Western New York after a weeklong road trip. Niagara traveled to St. Bonaventure, the Bonnie took the 61-57 win.
Game Recap
First Quarter
  • In the opening frame the Purple Eagles jumped out to an early lead as they led 17-13 after opening frame.
  • Ary Hicks led the Purple Eagles with five points in the frame. She was 2-5 from the field while also hitting her only three attempt.
  • Aaliyah Parker and Nickelle O'Neil each had four points as Parker went 2-2 from the field and O'Neil was 2-4.
  • The Purple Eagles had 12 points in the pain and 10 on second choices. Niagara also out rebounded the Bonnies 15-11 which included six offensive boards.
Second Quarter
  • St. Bonaventure edged out the Purple Eagles in the second quarter 14-13. Five different Purple Eagles scored in the second with Hicks leading the way with four.
  • Aaliyah had three points while O'Neil also had three in the frame. Aaliyah also pulled down a quarter high four rebounds.
  • Niagara notched four steals while forcing eight turnovers from the Bonnies. Aaliyah accounted for two steals while Marlie Dickerson and Angel Parker each had a steal.
  • Niagara went to the half with the 30-27 lead while Hicks had a game high nine points.
Third Quarter
  • Neither team had an upper hand in the third as both teams scored 15 points. Along with both teams being even there were two lead changes.
  • Of the 15 Niagara points, five Purple Eagle contributed as Saige Glover and Maddy Yelle each had four points. Angel also had three points as she hit a three in the quarter in her two minutes on the court. Aaliyah had two points and Brooklyn Jones had two points.
  • Niagara had seven points off turnovers as they forced six turnovers along with four steals.
  • With Angel on the court the Purple Eagles were +8 while Lexie Roe and Jones were both +6.
Fourth Quarter
  • In the fourth, St. Bonaventure took a lead and never looked back, they outscored the Purple Eagles 19-12.
  • Angel led all scorers with nine in the fourth in just under seven minutes on the court. Yelle had the other three points in the quarter.
  • Niagara tallied six steals in the frame while cause 11 turnovers. Angel also had three of the steals, Aaliyah, O'Neil, and Yelle all had a single steal in the fourth.
Niagara Notes
  • Angel played in her first game since Northwestern and played 11 minutes while leading the team with 11 points.
  • Niagara had 16 steals while Bona only forced seven steals. The Purple Eagles forced 27 turnovers including 10 from the Bonnies starting point guard.
  • The Purple Eagles also had 34 points in the paint along with 22 points in the paint. Niagara also got 30 points form their bench compared to just 16 on the Bona side.
