Purple Eagles and Jaspers Play to 0-0 Draw

 
RIVERDALE, NY – The Purple Eagles (4-8-5, 3-2-4 MAAC) and Jaspers played to a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon in MAAC men's soccer action from Gaelic Park.
 
 Game Recap
 First Half
• Freshman keeper Jamie Barry would make a pair of saves in the first half to keep the Jaspers off the board.
• The first Jasper attempt came in the 16th minute of action where the Dublin, Ireland product was there to make the save.
• Barry would climb the latter in the 26th minute to record his second save of the contest.
• Niagara didn't record a shot on goal in the first half and had one corner attempt before the game went into intermission.
• Of the two shots Niagara did take in the first half both missed high, one of the foot of Federico Cugge and the other from Rodrigo Almeida.
 
 Second Half
•  The Purple Eagles missed wide-right on each of its first attempts in the second half in the 51st and 53rd minute.
• Barry made his third save of the afternoon in the 59th minute stopping a shot to his left.  
• Alberto Sanchez Cervera missed high on his attempt in the 80th minute of action.
• Ali Alomari, the Purple Eagles lone goal scorer last time out was the first to pressure the Manhattan goalie with a shot in the 82nd minute of action, which was stopped by the Jasper netminder.
• Almeida would take the final shot of the game for NU, narrowly missing wide right in the 88th minute of play.
 
Head Coach Bill Boyle's Postgame Comments:
"The guys fought hard on the road today. We had our chances offensively, but a clean sheet is always a positive outcome. We will be down to our last game to see where our season goes, but this group has been a pleasure. They deserve more."
 
 Niagara Notes
• Niagara registered its third clean sheet of the season and first since its 2-0 win over Saint Peter's on Oct. 1.
• Barry made three saves in his first career shutout.
• The Purple Eagles remain unbeaten in their last three against the Jaspers.
 
 Up Next
