NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The visiting Fairfield Stags used a goal in the 74th minute of play to top Niagara (4-8-3, 3-2-2) 1-0 Saturday afternoon on Monteagle Ridge.
Game Recap
First Half
• Niagara would put early pressure on, recording four shots, including an attempt from
Alberto Sanchez Cervera that was stopped by the Stag keeper.
•
Jordan Acevedo would also put an attempt on goal in the 44th minute of play but was denied by Fairfield's goalie.
• The Stags didn't pressure
Josh Savoni in the first 45-minutes of action as the game remained scoreless at the break.
Second Half
• NU would again come out the gates strong in the second half, with a pair of shots going on target, one from
Rodrigo Almeida and the other from
Ali Alomari. Both attempts were stopped by the Stag keeper.
• Savoni would make his first save in the 65th minute when her stopped a shot above his head to keep the game tied nil-nil.
• After a shot from the Stags went off the crossbar, Joseph Lozowski would send the rebound in with his head to give Fairfield a 1-0 advantage over the Purple Eagles with 15 minutes remaining in the contest.
• Niagara would come up empty in the final 15-minutes of play, dropping its home contest 1-0 to the Stags.
Niagara Notes
• Niagara has dropped two-straight after going unbeaten in the first five MAAC games this season.
• The Purple Eagles outshot Fairfield 14-6.
• Savoni made two saves in the contest.
