NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – Niagara (2-2-0, 0-2-0) was defeated by AIC, 5-2, Saturday evening in Atlantic Hockey Action from Dwyer Arena.

Carter Randklev found the back of the net for the Purple and White in the loss.
Game Recap
First Period
• AIC struck first with a goal 9:55 into the first period when Austen Long found the back of the net to give AIC the rearly lead.
• The lead wouldn't last long for the Yellow Jackets as
Jay Ahearn scored after stripping AIC of the puck 12:56 into the first. the goal tied the game
• The Yellow Jackets would take a one goal lead into the break after scoring their second goal of the contest with 59-seconds remaining in the period.
Second Period
• The Yellow Jackets built their lead to 3-1 early on in the second period with a power play goal from Alexander Malinowski.
• Niagara took 10 shots in the second period, with seven being saved by the AIC goalie and another two blocked by Yellow Jacket skaters.
• After allowing the early goal, Niagara goalie
Ryan Ouellette stopped 13 shots in the remainder of the period, the most in a frame for the transfer netminder.
• Niagara's penalty kill went 4-for-5 in the period, while the Purple Eagle power play went 0-for-1.
Third Period
• Niagara would get one back 13:20 into the period when
Carter Randklev scored on the power play. Ahearn and
Noah Carlin got credit for the assists.
• AIC would score five minutes later on the power play to take a 4-2 lead over NU.
• The Yellow Jackets would add one more on a Niagara empty net with 18 seconds left in the contest to take home a 5-2 win.
Niagara Notes
• Niagara and AIC both totaled 26 shots on goal Saturday night.
• The Purple Eagles have recorded a power play goal in three of four games this season, including both against AIC.
• Ahearn has now scored in four-straight games to start the season. Saturday also marked the third time Ahearn has collected two points in a game this season.
• Ouellette made his Niagara debut, stopping 21 of 25 shots faced.
• Niagara won 28 faceoffs compared to 19 for AIC.
• Randklev recorded his second-straight game with a goal.
