Purple Eagles Shutout By Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Niagara men's soccer team was defeated by Syracuse, 2-0, on Monday.

Game Recap
  • Ali Alomari took the first shot of the game for the Purple Eagles in the 24th minute.
  • In the 41st minute, Asher Barnes had a good opportunity, placing the ball in the top left of the net, but it was saved by the Syracuse keeper.
  • Gabriel Mikina took the final shot of the first half for NU in the 43rd minute.
  • The Orange scored in the 59th minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Purple Eagles.
  • Herman Aalberg had a chance for NU in the 61st minute, but his shot missed its target.
  • The Orange added another goal in the 90th minute to defeat Niagara, 2-0.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Alomari, Mikina, Aalberg and Barnes each took one shot. Barnes' shot was NU's only shot on goal.
  • Nick Burke started the first half in net for the Purple Eagles. He made seven saves.
  • Josh Savoni (1-2) started the second half. He made five saves and allowed two goals.

Coach's Corner
  • "We are fighting hard and the guys are getting better each game," said head coach Bill Boyle. "Syracuse is very good and we couldn't capitalize on the chances we created. We will get there!"
