RIVERDALE, NY – The Purple Eagles earned their eighth-straight win with a 3-1 result against Manhattan in MAAC women's soccer action from Gaelic Park in Riverdale, N.Y.
Game Recap
• Freshman
Maia MacLean scored twice in the win, with the first goal coming in the 39
th minute, giving the Purple Eagles a 1-0 lead.
• Following a shot that went off the crossbar MacLean found the rebound with her head and sent the ball into the back left corner of the net.
• Niagara dominated possession in the first half, recording a total of 16 shots, five of which were on target.
• The Purple Eagles nearly scored to close the half but the shot by
Djeynaba Thiam was saved by the Manhattan keeper, Kim Mains.
• Thiam would beat Mains for Niagara's second goal of the match in the opening minutes of the second half.
• The Jaspers cut the Niagara lead in half with a goal from Sydney Harwood in the 47
th minute.
• MacLean scored her second goal of the game and sixth of the season in the 87
th minute after receiving a pass from
Florence Vaillancourt. Thiam was rewarded with the secondary assist on the play.

Felicia Grufman was rarely tested by the Jasper attack Saturday afternoon, finishing the contest with just one save. She and the Niagara defense held the Jaspers to just 10 shots on the afternoon.
Notes
• Niagara has now won eight-straight games, its longest win streak since 2005 when the Purple Eagles had an impressive 11-game unbeaten streak.
• The Purple Eagles finished with a season-best 27 shots and have recorded 20 or more shots in three-straight games.
• Niagara now has five games where an individual scores two or more goals. MacLean and Vaillancourt have combined for four such games.
• MacLean is now second on the team with six goals, while Thiam is third with five.
• Vaillancourt, the nation's leader in points coming into the contest, added one with an assist on the Purple Eagles final goal.
