Men's Golf Opens Season at Manhattan

PURPLE EAGLES MEN'S GOLF
The Niagara men's golf program opens the 2021 season with MAAC foe Manhattan. The dual-match with the Jaspers will take place Saturday and Sunday at Union Vale Golf Course in LaGrangeville, N.Y.
 
Scene Setter
 
• The Purple Eagles were tabbed ninth in the MAAC preseason coaches' poll, while the Jaspers were selected to finish one spot ahead, in eighth.
• The men's team returns five players from last year's squad and welcome two newcomers.
• Head coach Stosh Kajfasz enters his fourth season at the helm of the men's golf program.
 
Match Tidbits
• The lone senior on the team is North Tonawanda, native Matt Pawlak. Pawlak shot a career-best 76 twice as a freshman, first in a dual-match with Canisius and again against Bucknell.
• Lincoln Cizek enters his junior season with the Purple and White. As a sophomore, Cizek earned his best finish of the season at the Bucknell Invitational, finishing tied for 16th.
• Cizek also placed 19th at the Little Three Championship as a sophomore.
• Fellow junior Tyler Edholm recorded the best finish of his career at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational as the Tonawanda native placed tied for 15th.
• Ryan Sabo finished second overall at the Little Three Championship as a freshman and also finished ninth at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate with a score of 72.
