Niagara University, NY: Robert Morris erased a two-goal deficit to force overtime and earn the comeback win over Niagara Saturday night in Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
1st Period
  • The first period came to a close with neither team able to find the back of the net. Niagara held the advantage in shots (20-16) over Robert Morris but was even in shots on goal, at nine apiece.
  • A total of 14 skaters attempted a shot in the first for Niagara, with Walker Sommer leading the way with four shots, three of which were on goal.
  • The Purple Eagle power play failed to score in its lone opportunity in the period. However, Niagara did successfully kill a Colonial power play in the early portion of the frame.
  • Michael Corson finished the period with nine saves. 
 
2nd Period
  • The second period saw three goals scored in the first five minutes of action, with Robert Morris scoring twice.
  • Following the first goal of the game from RMU's Kyler Head, Niagara's Ryan Nuamovski found Justin Kendall in front of the net for the equalizer.
  • The tie didn't last long as David Lafrance gave the Colonials a 2-1 lead less than 30 seconds after the Purple Eagle goal.
  • The period came to a close with Robert Morris retaining the 2-1 edge.
 
3rd Period
  • Kendall and Naumovski connected again to tie the game at 2-2, this time off a Robert Morris turnover in the neutral zone.
  • Junior Ludwig Stenlund scored from the doorstep for Niagara's third goal of the night, 7:53 into the final 20-minutes of action. The tally was assisted by Christian Gorscak and gave the Purple Eagles a 3-2 lead.
  • Gorscak got a goal of his own moments later, giving Niagara a 4-2 lead after the shorthand marker. 
  • The Colonials scored back-to-back goals late in the period to force overtime.
 
Overtime
  • Aidan Spellacy scored the sudden-victory goal halfway through the overtime period to give Robert Morris the win.
 
Game Notes
  • Kendall scored two goals for the first time since Nov. 15, 2019, versus Canisius.
  • Stenlund returned to the ice Saturday night after missing the last three games.
  • Nuamovski tallied two assists for the third time this season. The sophomore now has nine points on the season.
  • Niagara has scored four-plus goals in five games this season.
