NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Niagara University men's soccer head coach
Bill Boyle announced the Purple Eagles' second group of incoming recruits for the class of 2020. All four players will be immediate eligible to play this fall.
Herman Aalberg | Midfield | Hommelvik, Norway | Lockport High School (2018-19)
- 2019 Skandia Cup champion (second-largest cup for U19 boys in Norway).
- Multi-sport athlete; also competes in handball, cross country skiing, and track and field.
- Played soccer and ran track at Lockport High School.
- Former club teams include: Hommelvik, Strindheim, Empire United, Lockport Lightning.

Bill Boyle: "Herman comes to our program from Norway, but he was an exchange student at Lockport High School. Herman is a fantastic player with a high soccer IQ and is deadly on sets. Herman will be able to play in a few different positions mainly in the midfield, but he will compete to get on the field right away. We are excited to add Herman back to our area."
Asher Barnes | Forward | Toronto, Ontario | Northview Heights Secondary School
- Top goal scorer in the OPDL for consecutive years.
- Team Ontario prospect multiple years.
- Most recently played for Power FC Academy U20.
- Scored four goals in three games in Disney Soccer Showcase.
- 2016 Athlete of the Year.
- Played club with North Toronto from 2008-2018, and is a four-year OPDL veteran.

Bill Boyle: "Asher is a player we can see unlimited potential in. He has an amazing change of pace, and can break the back line of defense all game long. His athletic ability and his tactical awareness to get behind the final block will create havoc for defenses."
Nuukele Gboe | Midfield | Gbarnga, Liberia | Northland Community & Technical College
- Played 22 games 14 goals and 3 assists.
- Played in the CASL showcase, Blue Chip Showcase, Nike Cup, and Crossroads Showcase.
- Joined NPSL squad FC Buffalo ahead of the 2020 summer season.
- Played two seasons with Dakota Fusion FC (NPSL) while attending Northland CTC.
- Made 15 appearances, scoring nine times along with six assists.
- Registered hat trick on May 22, 2019.
- Played three seasons at Groveport Madison High School in Columbus, Ohio.
- Led the team in goals all three seasons.
- Scored 54 goals in three seasons, setting new school record.
- Two-times Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) first team.
- Two-time all-district selection.
- All-district D1 all-star selection.
- Two-time team MVP.
- 2016 OCC Honorable Mention as a freshman.

Bill Boyle: "Nuuke will give us a multi-dimension attack in the final third. He can do so many things with the ball at his feet. He can score and assist others breaking the opponent between the lines as an 8 or a 10. Nuukele will really solidify our team from front to back."
Gonçalo Verissimo | Midfield | Estoril, Portugal | John Brown University
- As a sophomore in 2019, scored four goals and five assists after starting in each of the team's 22 games.
- In 2018 as a freshman, Verissimo played in 18 games, starting four. Registered two goals and five assists.

Bill Boyle: "Gonçalo comes to us from JBU, but is from Estoril, Portugal so he will feel right at home with our other Portuguese players. Gonçalo is a disciplined attacking central midfielder that plays box to box. He is an exciting addition to the middle of our field where he can play 360 degrees under pressure, and attack when needed."
