The Niagara men's soccer team closes out non-conference play on Tuesday evening when St. Bonaventure pays a visit to Monteagle Ridge. The Purple Eagles are looking to snap a four-game losing streak and get back on track before MAAC play opens next week.

Niagara Notes
  • In a 7-1 loss at Dartmouth on Saturday, Rodrigo Almeida tallied his third goal of the season off a free kick from just outside the 18. The Purple Eagles' front line pounded away at the ball and kept it hemmed in before it came off Mackenzie Roach's foot and found itself on the boot of Almeida, who slotted it home.
  • Niagara has relied on both Josh Savoni and Nick Burke to man the net through the first seven games of the year. Savoni has played 270 minutes over three games, earning a 2.33 goals-against average. Burke has played four games and 378 minutes, posting a save percentage of .581 in that span.
  • As the men's soccer team celebrates 50 years as a varsity program, this will be the 52nd meeting between these two longtime rivals. All-time, Niagara holds a 16-31-4 record against St. Bonaventure. The Purple Eagles played to a 1-1 draw in their last home meeting with the Bonnies, on September 20, 2017. The last time Niagara won the rivalry game was a 4-0 domination at home in 2015.

Across The Pitch: St. Bonaventure Bonnies
  • St. Bonaventure is coming off a 2-0 defeat in their A-10 opener against VCU on September 21. The Bonnies haven't been on the road since September 8, when they left Baltimore with a 1-0 victory over UMBC.
  • Jacob Dyck's three points (1 G, 1 A) leads the Bonnies' offense through the first six games of 2019. Dyck's goal and assist both came in a 3-0 home win over Canisius on September 17.
  • Justyn Sandhu and Trevor Wilson have evenly split time between the pipes for St. Bonaventure. Through 270 minutes, Sandhu has the higher goals-against average (0.67) and save percentage (.750) but both netminders share a 1-2 mark.
