The Niagara men's soccer team returns home for the weekend as they host the Hartford Hawks on Friday night, followed by a matinee against the Yale Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

Niagara Notes
  • In their most recent outing, the Purple Eagles dropped a 2-1 decision at Duquesne on Tuesday evening. Trailing 1-0 late, Rodrigo Almeida leveled the score in the 85th minute before the Dukes struck with 83 seconds left in regulation.
  • Almeida has a goal in each of the past two games to lead the team. On Friday, September 6, the Portuguese rookie headed home the game-winner against Northern Kentucky in double overtime.
  • Freshmen Josh Savoni and Nick Burke have split duty in net over the first four games of the season. Savoni sports a goals-against average of 2.00 in 180 minutes, while Burke has made 14 saves in 198 minutes.

Across The Pitch: Hartford Hawks
  • Hartford beat Brown by a score of 2-1 on September 6 to win their first game of the season after starting 0-2-0 against Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside.
  • Addrian Knights-Browne, Nick Benjamin, and Sergi Martinez all have scored a goal for the Hawks this season, with Knights-Browne tallying the game-winner against the Bears.
  • Friday's matchup will only be the second all-time meeting between the Hawks and the Purple Eagles. Niagara defeated Hartford on the road last season, with Luca Pacheco netting the double overtime winner in a 2-1 game on September 3, 2018.

Across The Pitch: Yale Bulldogs
  • Yale started their season off with draws against Syracuse and Colgate before shutting out UConn, 3-0, at home on Wednesday, September 11.
  • Miguel Yuste's five points (2 G, 1 A) are a team high. He is tied for the team lead in goals with Ryan Matteo.
  • Elian Haddock has played all 310 minutes for the Bulldogs so far this season, allowing just three goals to post a goals-against average of 0.870 with 10 saves.
  • In their meeting last season, Niagara fell to the Bulldogs by a 1-0 margin on August 31, 2018.
