NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Niagara women's basketball head coach
Jada Pierce has announced two signees for the 2020-21 season.
Saige Glover and
Brooklyn Jones have signed National Letters of Intent and will enroll at Niagara in fall 2020.
"We are thrilled to welcome Saige and Brooklyn to our Purple Eagle family," said Pierce. "They are talented players, but, more importantly, people of high character. We want to continue placing an emphasis on character each and every year in our recruiting efforts."
Saige Glover | Forward | 6-foot-0 | Columbus, OH | Northland High School
Glover, who began her high school career at Pickerington High School North before transferring to Northland, has had a decorated career so far. As a sophomore, Glover averaged a double-double with 15.0 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game and she was a Second Team Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) selection. In her junior season in 2018-19, Glover averaged 14.0 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game and 8.6 assists per game. She was a First Team OCC honoree and was selected to the All-Ohio Third Team for Division I. Glover also excels in the classroom and is an honor roll student.
"Saige is an athletic, versatile forward that will add some depth to our frontcourt," Pierce said. "She is an extremely hard worker on and off the court. Saige really impressed our staff with her unique skillset and willingness to defend. Her personality meshes so well with our current team that you feel she has been here the whole time."
Brooklyn Jones | Guard | 5-foot-8 | Pittsburgh, PA | Taylor Allderdice High School
Jones has had a successful high school career, breaking out in her sophomore season (2017-18), when she was named the City League Player of the Year. As a junior, Jones averaged 10.0 points per game and was named to the City League First Team. She also heled her Tayler Allderdice High School team to back-to-back City League championships.
"Brooklyn is a quick, athletic combo-guard that can score and defend," said Pierce. "She really enjoys being a student of the game, which we love. Brooklyn's game fits our up-tempo style of play and, more importantly, she is the type of person we want to be part of our program. We already have two Pittsburgh natives on our team (
Adia Brisker and
Jordan Edwards) which made Brooklyn feel really comfortable."
