NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara men's soccer team wrapped up its season with a 2-1 loss to Fairfield at home on Wednesday evening. The Stags edged the Purple Eagles in shots on goal, 6-3.
 
Match Moments

• 12' – With Fairfield advancing up the right side, the Purple Eagles stepped in front of a crossing pass and a shot from 15 yards out to prevent the ball from making its way to Nick Burke.
• 27' – Absalom Solorio-Villalpando had Niagara's first two shots of the game in sequence, but both balls were blocked by a swarming Stags defense.
• 29' – After winning a corner kick, the Purple Eagles scored on a corner kick by Matthew Krucko-Moeller. The junior served up a great ball at the front post, and after the Fairfield keeper got a mitt on it, Jayson Repine cleaned up the rebound and tied the game at 1-1.
• 40' – Jacob Myer let go a shot from distance, but it was corralled by the Fairfield netminder to keep the game level.
• 62' – Kyle Hofschneider's first shot of the game went high on target but was saved as the score stayed tied 1-1.
• 70' – Jacob Myer dragged a Fairfield defender with him for 35 yards as he tried to work around him and get a clean shot in goal. Unfortunately Myer got too deep and was unable to cut it from the sharp angle.
• 90' – Niagara was awarded a corner kick with 25 seconds left in regulation. Burke sprinted the length of the pitch as the Purple Eagles attempted to find an equalizer but were unable to do so.
