The Niagara men's hockey team is gearing up for a short drive to Buffalo, where the Canisius Golden Griffins will host a two-game set this Friday and Saturday.

Matchup Preview
  • This marks the only series between the Purple Eagles and Golden Griffins in the 2019-20 regular season.
  • Last year, the two sides played seven total games between the regular season and playoffs, with Niagara going 4-1-2 in those matchups, including a three-game takedown of Canisius in the first round of the Atlantic Hockey tournament.
  • Last season, the Purple Eagles went 2-0-2 against Canisius in regular season games. It was the fifth time the Purple Eagles have taken the regular season series from Canisius since joining Atlantic Hockey, and the first time since 2013-14.
  • All-time, Niagara is now 25-26-6 against its Battle of the Bridge nemesis.
  • In seven career games against Canisius, Ludwig Stenlund has amassed 10 points (6 G, 4 A), and has scored at least one goal in five of those seven games.

Niagara Notes
  • The Purple Eagles are coming of a weekend that saw it earn mixed results against RIT. In Rochester on Friday night, Niagara earned a bonus-point win in double overtime thanks to a highlight-reel effort from Eric Cooley. Saturday's outing at Dwyer Arena ended in a 4-1 Tigers win.
  • Each of Niagara's 10 goals this season has been supplied by a different player. Nine players also rank tied for the team lead with two points each.
  • Chad Veltri currently leads Niagara's goaltending corps with a 2.55 goals-against average, a .922 save percentage, and 119 saves through the first four games of his collegiate career.

Scouting The Golden Griffins
  • Robert Morris swept Canisius in a home-and-home last weekend. Both games were decided by identical 4-2 scores.
  • Austin Alger leads the Griffs with four points (2 G, 2 A) on the season.
  • Three goaltenders have seen action for Canisius so far this season. Matt Ladd has made the most starts (4), Jacob Barczewski has the highest save percentage (.889), and Daniel Urbani has the lowest goals-against average (3.00).
