The Niagara Purple Eagles begin their quest for a MAAC title on Sunday when they visit the Rider Broncs in the 2019 MAAC Championship First Round at 4 p.m.

Scene Setter
  • Niagara and Rider will meet in the MAAC Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons, including the second straight season.
  • The Purple Eagles are 12-9-2 in the last 23 meetings with the Broncs.
  • Niagara will be in search of its first win at Rider since 2008.
  • In their first meeting this season, Niagara lost to opportunistic Rider Broncs squad, 5-0. NU had the better play through the first 25 minutes, but the Broncs bagged two goals in an eight-minute span late in the first half to seize control. Rider added two goals in a two-minute span early in the second half to the seal the contest as the Purple Eagles were held to few scoring chances for the rest of the game.

  • Sabrina Locas has been named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.
