Riding a three-game winning streak, the Niagara men's soccer team is looking to move to 3-0 in MAAC play when they travel to Canisius on Wednesday night.

Niagara Notes
  • The Purple Eagles took down Monmouth on Saturday, October 5 by a 2-0 margin. Absalom Solorio-Villalpando scored on a penalty kick in the 64th minute before Rafael Freitas' insurance goal seven minutes later.
  • Josh Savoni posted his second straight shutout to help seal the win. During the team's three game win streak, the freshman has made 18 saves on 19 shots on target.
  • Savoni is riding a shutout streak spanning 245:07, the longest such streak for the Purple Eagles since 2017. Niagara's most recent back-to-back shutout wins came in 2012, when the team went 266:07 without allowing a goal over a stretch of four straight victories.
  • Niagara is looking to win its fourth consecutive game for the first time since 2012. That season saw the Purple Eagles string together separate winning streaks of three games, four games, and five games on their way to a MAAC championship.

Across The Pitch: Canisius Golden Griffins
  • The Griffs are in the midst of a seven-game losing streak, with their last win coming on September 6 at Binghamton. Canisius has dropped back-to-back 3-1 decisions against Siena and Rider to open conference play.
  • Troy Brady leads the Griffs with five points (2 G, 1 A) on the season.
  • Goalkeeping duties have been split between Fabio D'Errico and Tom Crosbie. D'Errico has a goals-against average of 2.34, a save percentage of .714, and earned the team's lone win on the season.
