WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Purple Eagles fell to the Monmouth Hawks, 76-54, on Saturday afternoon.

Game Recap
  • The Hawks opened the game on a 7-0 run and the Purple Eagles answered with a 7-0 run of their own, including a triple from Jai Moore and four points from Adila Gathers, to tie the score, 7-7. Monmouth, however, went on a 12-0 run to take a 19-7 lead over Niagara. Emerald Ekpiteta added three points for NU in the last three and a half minutes of the first quarter but the Purple Eagles trailed the Hawks, 27-10, going into the second quarter.
  • Jai Moore added six points in the second quarter, including a bucket as time expired, and Maggie McIntyre added three points. Dagny Davidsdottir and Valentina Pepic also contributed in the second quarter but the Hawks maintained the lead, 39-22, at the end of the first half.
  • Moore added six more points in the third quarter and McIntyre sank her second 3-pointer of the game, but the Hawks were still comfortably ahead, leading the Purple Eagles 57-33 at the end of the quarter.
  • Moore was once again the leading scorer for the Purple Eagles in the final quarter with seven points. McIntyre made her third three of the game with a little under seven minutes remaining in the quarter. Davidsdottir and Kyra Grimshaw each added four points. The Purple Eagles, however, were not able to overcome Monmouth's lead, falling to the Hawks, 76-54.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Moore led the Purple Eagles in scoring with 22 points. She also added four rebounds.
  • Gathers recorded a team-high six rebounds and a team-best two blocks.
  • McIntyre added nine points for Niagara and dished out a team-high four assists.
  • Moore, Ekpiteta and Gathers each had two steals.
