ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The Niagara women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 6-1 defeat to the Akron Zips on Friday.

Match Summary

• The doubles team of Shannon Wong and Andreea Peteu lost in a tiebreaker in two doubles as the Purple Eagles fell in all three doubles matches.
• Shannon Wong rallied to win a three sets in No. 3 singles for Niagara's lone win in the match. The senior dropped the first set, 6-3, before winning the next two sets 6-2, 6-2.
• Andreea Peteu (No. 2 singles) and Olga Donchu (No. 5 singles) each lost in three sets.

• Shannon Wong won her first match of the 2018-19 season after dropping three matches in the fall season.
